Care and ordering
Looking after it, and getting one
Satin, mesh and an embroidered applique in one garment. What keeps it looking new is mostly about heat.
Care
- Hand wash cold, or dry cleanSatin, mesh and a lace applique do not share a machine cycle well. Cold water, mild detergent, no soaking, no bleach.
- Dry flat, out of the sunPress the water out in a towel rather than wringing it, then dry flat. Never tumble dry: heat is what kills the stretch and recovery this dress depends on.
- Steam rather than ironSteam from the inside, or press on the reverse at the lowest setting with a cloth between. An iron plate on the applique flattens the embroidery.
- Hang by the straps, or fold with tissueA padded hanger keeps the bodice in shape. For travel, fold with tissue through the skirt so the ruffles do not crease flat.
- Perfume before dressingAlcohol marks lace and dulls satin. The same goes for hairspray, so finish getting ready before the dress goes on.
