TangoNova began as a mother-and-son project in Manizales, a small act of love between generations, and a question asked out loud: what would happen if Tango were reborn in the age of machines?
We grew up in the mountains of Colombia's coffee region, where every night the mist comes down and the city falls quiet long enough to hear the memory of a bandoneón. Tango was always a distant ancestor, a music we loved from afar. When we started composing with AI, we didn't set out to reinvent it. We set out to listen more closely.
What emerged was a new sound: old strings, new circuits. The weight of a century of dance floors, woven with the curiosity of a generation that grew up alongside artificial minds.

Roots
Manizales, Eje Cafetero, and a century of Tango
Colombia's love affair with Tango runs deeper than most realize. Carlos Gardel himself died here, in Medellín, and the sound he left behind has been burning slowly in Colombian cities ever since: in smoky cafés, in radio programs that never ended, in the hips of dancers who never stopped moving.
TangoNova is Colombian by birth and cosmopolitan by design. We believe the Andes deserve a modern Tango voice, and that the Eje Cafetero, with its dramatic landscapes and quiet intensity, is the perfect place to build it.
